Variazioni su porta romana
"Porta Romana" is an old neighborhood in Milan, Italy. It gets its name from the huge gate where the road leading to Rome used to start, some 2,000 years ago.
It's the neighborhood where I grew up and it's the home of Milan University, an ancient building that has been repurposed countless times during history. This photo series presents these old, familiar places in a new light, elaborated though techniques old and new, like the city itself.
The kaleidoscopic effects represent how I got to see these streets after moving to the US and coming back. Familiar and yet alien. Forever engraved in my memories, but constantly changing.
